Give to charity through your AI assistant
Legacy’s MCP server lets an AI assistant, such as Claude, help you give to UK registered charities. The assistant finds the charities, checks them with us and hands you a link to our checkout with your gift filled in. You pay on that page; the assistant never does.
Add it
Add this server to your assistant. It needs no account or sign-in.
https://donate.givewithlegacy.com/mcp- In Claude: Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector, and paste the address.
- In other MCP clients: add it as a remote server over Streamable HTTP.
Try asking
- “I’d like to give £20 each to the British Red Cross and Save the Children.”
- “Find UK charities helping after the Nepal floods, and help me give £50 between them.”
One gift can go to up to six charities.
What it can do
- check_charities
- Checks UK registered charity numbers and says which can take a gift through Legacy, with our name for each, so the assistant can confirm it has the charity you meant.
- quote
- Shows what a gift comes to: what you pay, the payment processing fee, what each charity receives and the Gift Aid they could claim.
- create_checkout_link
- Returns a link to our checkout with the charities, and your amounts if you gave any.
What it won’t do
- Take payment or card details. You pay on our checkout, by card through Stripe.
- Answer Gift Aid or choose a tip for you. You decide both at checkout.
- Search for charities. The assistant finds them and passes their registered numbers.
- Ask for personal information. The tools take charity numbers and amounts, nothing else.
Without the server
Any assistant that can share a link can send you to our checkout with the charities filled in, using their registered charity numbers:
https://donate.givewithlegacy.com/checkout?charityNumbers=220949,SC022140&amounts=20,10charityNumbers: up to six UK registered charity numbers, separated by commas.amounts: optional, pounds for each charity in the same order. Leave it out and you choose at checkout.- A number we can’t take a gift for is named on the page, so it can be fixed.
